Our client:
A leading provider of rugged industrial computers to OEMs for embedded control and industrial control applications headquartered in Eugene, OR.
Basic Functions:
Coordinate activities of the manufacturing operations so that all work related to manufacturing is preformed properly and efficiently.
Critical functions: capital budgeting, work scheduling, material scheduling, shipping and receiving, equipment maintenance, assembly production control, and any other work that relates to manufacturing.
Duties:
Manage and maintain company’s facility within predetermined budget guidelines.
Direct and supervise the activities of Production Control, Shipping & Receiving, and Preparation departments to achieve preset levels of performance in terms of quantity and quality of work produced. This includes on-site training, scheduling, establishing goals and standards, and evaluations.

Plan all operations work to maximize the efficiency of the facility, operations work force, materials, supplies, equipment, and tools. Additionally, track productivity for labor and materials costs
Ensure quality of work done exceeds the established company guidelines
Check all reports prepared by individual managers for accuracy and completeness. Coordinate paper flow, maintaining records, and analyzing improving systems
Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with customers
Enhance the image and reputation of the company by exercising sound and ethical business practices in all relations with customers, employees, suppliers, and other third parties
Establish, enforcing, and monitoring the security procedures to protect the company’s assets in the yard and builds, or wherever the assets are located
Establish scheduling and production objectives and the means of implementation to meet the company’s goals
Supervise work assignments and ensure labor is scheduled to satisfy production requirements in the most efficient and effective manner
Coordinate the daily work flow in production and building maintenance
Contract with outside services to satisfy the maintenance requirements
Coordinate with customers to ensure customer satisfaction with respect to the orders and complaints
Establish and maintain operating systems and procedures which maximize the effectiveness of both the facility and production personnel
Review daily records to ensure that all quality and quantity standards are being met
Ensure all equipment and materials are maintained in accordance with an established preventative maintenance program and that downtime is minimal
Be alert to opportunities to change equipment, methods, processes and procedures which can benefit the company, research and develop ideas as appropriate
Ensure that all government and company requirements relating to safety, health, and environment are strictly adhered to and enforced
Review budget and cost reports showing comparison with actual projected amounts. Provide acceptable explanations on variations relating to labor and productivity, and ensure prompt remedial actions are taken as required
Ensure that materials and supplies are being purchased at rates and standards which maximize returns on investments for the short and long term
Ensure adequate materials and supplies are in stock to satisfy customer needs while maintaining inventory levels
Establish and maintain adequate controls to safeguard the inventory and minimize handling, storage and damage costs
Monitor customer satisfaction levels and resolve customer complaints in an expeditious manner to the satisfaction of the customer while not jeopardizing the economic benefit and profitability of the company
Ensure the staffing is adequate and capable of satisfying the production needs of the company in the most cost effective manner. Adjust labor up or down as needed to maintain cost ratios below the accepted budget
Participate in the selection and appointment of all key personnel within the manufacturing group
Ensure employees are trained to perform their jobs adequately and safely. This includes developing in-house training programs/investigating and recommending outside courses and seminars.
Ensure that each employee in the manufacturing group is provided with a written task sheet
Ensure that there is a sound and fair system of performance evaluation for each employee with a view of enhancing performance
Recommend any employee terminations to the President
Personally resolve all departmental human relations problems which are not satisfactorily settled at the lower levels
Participate in the formulation and establishment of the budget for the fiscal year in so far as to relates to fixed and variable operating costs and margins for the departments, including managerial costs
Furnish information for monthly variance reports including explanations on major variations
Support and implement programs to project a favorable image for the company with various groups, government agencies, and general public
Maintain building and grounds in good and secure condition
Standards of Performance:
Shipping dates are met on a daily basis
Quality control which requires rework will not exceed 1% of work on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. Immediate action is taken to correct quality control problems as they arise
All operational costs adhere to the annual or adjusted annual budget, and do not exceed estimated costs by a margin greater than 2%
Customer satisfaction is maintained, with no more than 1-2% of the orders receiving a complaint
All reports are completed accurately and on time
Subordinates are supervised in such a manner that employee morale and productivity is maintained at the highest possible level. A sense of cooperation and teamwork exists within the operations department
Employee evaluations have been given to each employee within the department at least twice a year and evaluations are being used effectively as a management tool
Initiative is shown in taking on additional duties and responsibilities
Respects confidentiality of company information and ensures that all subordinate staff does likewise
Completes presidents directives satisfactorily and within the specified time frame agreed upon
Recognize and deal with priorities
Ensure that there is no form of discrimination anywhere in the company regarding, sex, race, creed, age, or religion
Working area is clean and maintained

Requirements:
Education: B.S management – preferred
Minimum 5 years upper managerial experience in manufacturing environment, preferably in the computer related industries.
The use of analytical and observation skills which demonstrate an ability to organize, direct, budget, control, and manage a manufacturing facility.
